My account disabled by Facebook - Concerns? Posted on August 29th
*UPDATE* - read this, as it’s useful - but, here’s an update with lessons to learn

My account has been disabled and I have some concerns.
Why has it been disabled? Well - I’ll admint, it was most likely my fault:
I’ve been in correspondence with Facebook for a few weeks about their group email facility and the fact it’s been broken and cannot send emails.

So - whilst I cannot use the email facility to tell members of a group to get more members, tell their friends etc… I went out and did some ‘prospecting’ of other groups and emailed some (well… about 8 ) of their members directly to tell them about the related group that they may be interested in.
I was ‘expecting’ some kind of warning that say’s ‘Slow down, you look like a spammer’ - but I just got locked out. Kinda harsh - but, I guess those are the rules and now we know.
Anyway - point of this post is a few things:
a)Dont go about spamming 8 or so people on Facebook- this is what happens.
b)I want it to be known, that I have ‘concerncs’ - but majo…
..rly so over Facebook’s spelling.
c) I’m also concernced that the FAQ ‘click here’ link that they give me to help find out more about my concerncs - doesnt work. (http://login.facebook.com/help.php?page=44)
This has been so concerncing that I’ve emailed Maurice at Facebook again to help me out concerncing this issue of my concerncs.
Oh well. I doubt anyone will get to read or see this because my blog won’t be fed into my mini-feed… because I dont even have an account let alone a mini-feed right now! Come to think of it - that’s one other lesson to learn from this…. how many email addresses of your friends that you have found on facebook do you have backed up? Im guessing it’s a similar percentage to me… Maybe if you read this, you should also take out of it that your next ‘note’ posted on Facebook, is to ask them to all send you their proper emails to have as a back-up outside of the Facebook wall.

They disabled me yesterday, and I am still waiting.
I think we need to put a link on google for compatitors of facebook under the name facebook, and click it.

access to my face book would very much help
As an emergency worker, i work in disasters all around the world
Facebook has become almost an essential tool for me in keeping in contact
with friends and families scattered across the globe

After 2 days I received the following reply

Facebook has limits in place to prevent behavior that other users may find annoying or abusive. These limits restrict the rate at which you can use certain features on the site, including the message feature. Unfortunately, we cannot provide you with the specific rates that have been deemed abusive.
Your account was disabled because you exceeded Facebook’s limits on multiple occasions, despite having been warned to slow down. However, after reviewing your situation, we have reconfirmed your account and you should now be able to access it again.
Please be aware that if your account is disabled again, we will not be able to reactivate it. While using the message feature, keep in mind that it’s possible to run into a block based on how many messages you send and how fast you send them. It’s also possible to be blocked when either starting a new message thread or replying to a message. Lastly, deleting old messages will not allow you to send more messages. When you are allowed to resume using the message feature, please proceed with caution to avoid hitting the limit again. Let me know if you have further questions.

facebook disabled me because i add so much friend, i add friend becuse i wonna make friend iam new in canada i need some body to take to. i hope it well be re-enable soon.
Commented josephine nwankwo on August 2nd, 2008.My account was deactivated on monday… I emailed info@facebook.com tuesday morning, I emailed warning@facebook.com wednesday afternoon, and I just emailed disabled@facebook.com all similar messages explaining that I was not responsible for the spam that a facebook virus had caused my account to send out. I still have no response from facebook. How long will it take them to reactivate my facebook or at least to reply to my emails??

I was recently disabled too. It was for “Exceeding Rate Limit” whatever that might be. I’ve written appeals@facebook.com but heard nothing back as of yet to answer my questions. A friend of mine put a page on Facebook called “Bring Doug.Monahan back to Facebook” yesterday. I’m using it as a forum to possibly help me reinstate my account, plus also bring up to Facebook in a petition sort of way - many of the problems others have been having.
So - if you’ve been renabled on Facebook, please help me get back - as well as sign my “petition” and tell your story - and we can use it to assist you - should you be blocked again - as well as others. Doug
Commented dougmonahan on August 28th, 2008.I just had my account disabled too, and I haven’t even been messaging a lot of people, I can zip through those ‘hot or not’ pics and ‘are you interested’ real quick which is the only thing that i can think of, but jeez these guys are real nazis!

Commented Joel Darnel on October 2nd, 2008.hi, i found out today that facbook has disabled my account. the reason for it i do not know, i do spent alot of time on facebook talking to friends on the online service they have, but do not know if that is the reason. i have emailed them on the two email provided nfo@facebook,com
disabled@facebook.com but have not got any response, i would like my account back this is were i keep in contact with many of my friends. if someone can help me it would be apprecated.
i have also found a customer service which help with social network helpline www.socialnetworkhelpline.com but to be able to talk to a person and not a machine it is very expensive.
